Kamran Sadeghi

Iranian-born, New York-based electronic music producer Kamran Sadeghi operates in the worlds of both minimal tech-house and installation art. Extremely process oriented, he uses his attention to detail to create immersive, hypnotic sound worlds. Following the Islamic Revolution, Sadeghi's family relocated to the United States. As a child he was drawn to visual art and skateboarding and only started to make music in his late teens. Initial dreams of becoming a jazz drummer gave way to a fascination with production and sound design. In 2000 he began recording experimental music under the alias Son of Rose, subjecting acoustic instruments to real-time computer synthesis. Under this moniker, he recorded the albums Top Flight (2006) and Divisions in Parallel (2007) for Yann Novak's Dragon's Eye label and All In (2009) for Blanket Fields. Sadeghi's first album under his own name, Through Thickness, came out in 2008 on Dragon's Eye and was also an experimental affair, combining electro-acoustic sounds with abstract electronic beats. That year, Sadeghi moved from Seattle to New York, where he immersed himself in sound art, creating soundtracks for art installations, including one recorded in a disused nuclear cooling tower. He was an occasional collaborator with the experimental Soundwalk Collective. His second album, 2014's Together We Breathe on All Inn, was the first to be recognizable as dance music, with a jiggy, minimal tech-house style that incorporated unusual found sounds. Approximation, released in 2015 on Sternberg Press, saw him return to the gallery for an art installation soundtrack. 2019's Ritual Signal, on Romanian label Amphia, was another minimal tech-house affair, but darker and even more spare than his first. Along the way, he also produced a few 12"s, notably 2016's "Astral Body" on Meander.
