Garry Glenn
Detroit native Garry Glenn was a gifted songwriter, singer, and keyboardist. As a teenager he toured with his sister, the gospel singer Beverly Glenn, but turned his attention to writing in the 1980s, penning songs for the Emotions, Earth, Wind & Fire, Freddie Jackson, Eddie Kendricks, and the Dramatics, among others. Anita Baker recorded what is probably his most widely known composition, "Caught in the Rapture," and Glenn worked for a time as a keyboardist in her touring band, a position he also held with Billy Ocean. His first solo album, Garry Glenn, was released in 1980, and a second, Feels Good to Feel Good, came out on Motown Records in 1987. Glenn passed away on September 18, 1991.
