Freddie De Tommaso

As a regular of the stage, British-Italian tenor Freddie De Tommaso had performed for numerous prestigious opera houses and companies such as the Dutch National Opera and London's Royal Opera House before paying tribute to his Italian heritage with his debut album, 2021's Passione. Born and raised in Tunbridge Wells, England, De Tommaso hadn't originally planned on a career in music, but after dropping out of university and returning to work at the family restaurant, he decided to pursue singing. Returning to his old schoolteacher for guidance, De Tommaso found himself singing for Mark Wildman, and without any previous training, earned himself a place at the Royal Academy of Music. Spending four years as an undergraduate, he eventually became a member of the Royal Academy Opera, before winning first prize at the 2018 Viñas International Singing Competition in Barcelona. Following his win, De Tommaso found himself in demand, going on to perform productions of Nabucco with the Dutch National Opera and Otello at the Royal Opera House. In 2021 he made his recording debut with the release of the album, Passione. Working with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Renato Balsadonna, De Tommaso paid tribute to a raft of Italian composers including Tosti, Buzzi-Peccia, and Puccini.
