Forty Winks
Forty Winks first started playing their raw punk rock in 1998, forming in Bologna, Italy, around vocalist/guitarist Sandro Amabili, guitarist/vocalist Andrea Cristallini, bassist Roberto Muzzioli, and drummer Francesco Salomone. They gathered a strong local following, and their 1999 demo sold 500 copies and was later re-released in the area. After touring around Europe they came back and recorded their debut album, 2002's To the Lonely Hearts, for End Records. Forty Winks' aggressive yet melodic songs were praised by fans and critics alike, both at home and abroad. They signed with Wynona Records the following year, eventually selling out of their 2003 EP Sweet Sweet Frenzy, which was in turn licensed to labels worldwide. Their fan base continued to grow as they toured around Europe and Japan, including various festivals and serving as openers for blink-182 on their Italian tour. The guys then released their eponymous album in 2005 and hopped back out on the road.
