Drumma Boy

Formed in Brooklyn in 1993 by rappers J. Mega and Greg Valentine, All City mapped out a jazz-inflected sound that came alive on a slew of singles and one well-received album. In 1995, the duo dropped their debut single, "Who Dat"/"Metro Theme," on rap group Onyx's Armee Records (distributed by the prominent indie label Mercury Records) and released a follow-up in 1997, "Move On You" / "Basic Training." All City's debut LP, Metropolis Gold, arrived in 1998 and featured an array of celebrated NYC producers, including DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Rockwilder, Fredro Starr, DJ Clark Kent, Hitmen member Ron "Amen-Ra" Lawrence and EZ Elpee. The LP wove in guest appearances from rappers Native Souls and Onyx, who served as executive producers. Metropolis Gold peaked at Number 42 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart, but the group disbanded following its release.
