Crypta

Crypta is an all-female death metal four-piece from São Paulo, Brazil. It was formed in 2019 by bassist/vocalist Fernanda Lira and drummer Luana Dametto, both former members of the thrash metal group Nervosa. The band's lineup is completed by guitarists Tainá Bergamaschi, formerly of Hagbard, and Jéssica di Falchi, who stepped in after the amicable exit of Sonia Anubis, previously associated with Burning Witches and Cobra Spell. The decision to leave Nervosa in April 2020 paved the way for Lira and Dametto to gravitate towards their preferred style – death metal, making their official debut in 2021 with the single "From the Ashes." Produced by metal connoisseurs Jean Dolabella and Estevam Romera, their first studio album Echoes of the Soul came out later that year, followed by their first live performance ever at the Porão do Rock festival in Brasilia. Over the following months, Crypta continued to tour relentlessly, playing at the Rock in Rio and Wacken Open Air festivals, also opening for death metal legends Morbid Angel on their US tour. Preceded by the singles "Trial of Traitors" and "The Other Side of Anger," their sophomore effort Shades of Sorrow hit the shelves in 2023 and entered the Top 100 of the German Albums Chart at Number 23.
