Charlotte Mbango
With her Hi-NRG blend of Caribbean zouk and Cameroonian makossa, Charlotte M'bango created one of the most exciting sounds to come out of central Africa during the 1990s. A former member of les Têtes Brulées, a group founded in 1986 by arts critic-turned-percussionist, trumpet player, and vocalist, Jean-Marie Ahanda, M'bango has continued her success as a soloist. Combining a dynamic stage show, multi-octave vocals, and heavily political lyrics, M'bango continues to evolve as one of Cameroon's most influential artists.
