Charles Ans
Mexican rapper Charles Ans has pushed the sound of Mexican hip-hop to the fore with albums such as 2016's Ataraxia: A Plena Luz del Dia and 2021's collaboration Gera MX and Nanpa Básico, Los No Tan Tristes, earning worldwide appeal for his down-to-earth lyrical style and cross-genre take on rap.
Born and raised in Hermosillo, Mexico, Charles Ans (aka Carlos Miguel Segura Ramírez) first found fame in his teens as part of the collective Anestesia before delivering his debut solo album, 2015's Sin Maletas, at just 15 years old. The prolific artist quickly followed up the record with Smile, and then hit the big time with his third LP, 2016's Ataraxia: A Plena Luz del Dia. The album's mix of classic hip-hop and down-to-earth lyricism quickly found an audience in his native Mexico and propelled him into the spotlight. Two years later, he released Sui Géneris, which saw him team up with Gera MX, Smoky, and Samantha Barrón. The live album En Vivo Desde el Plaza Condesa appeared in 2020, and Ans delivered a slew of releases through to 2021. Numerous singles appeared alongside three studio albums, 2021's Los No Tan Tristes with Gera MX and Nanpa Básico, and Los Raros del Salón and ¿Cómo Terminamos Aquí? wih BCN.
