Candy Lo

Rock-inclined Cantopop dynamo Candy Lo (born on October 18, 1974 in British Hong Kong) began her musical career as the lead vocalist of 1990s indie-rockers Black & Blue. She went solo in 1998 and scored a hit single, "Trash," which was featured on her debut EP Don't Have to be...Too Perfect (不需要...完美得可怕). Lo's cat-themed debut album, Miao..., arrived hot on the heels of the EP, but her '1970s rock-tinged sophomore effort, Getting Closer to Candy Lo (貼近盧巧音) (1999), struck a deeper chord with her fanbase. For her sixth studio album, 賞味人間 (Appreciating the Taste of Life), Lo was given her first taste of chart-topping victory via the smash-hit single, "Please Break Up" (好心分手), which remains a karaoke staple in Hong Kong bars. After undergoing a smooth transition from alternative hero to mainstream popstar, Lo released her final album with Sony, Evolution Theory (天演論) in 2005, which represented a return to her earlier indie aesthetic. Her 10th studio album, Process, came in 2007 and after taking a break from music in 2011, Lo made a comeback in 2014 and released a string of singles, including 2017's "Tomorrow We Will Run By The Sea" (明日我與你海邊跑一天) and 2020's 旁觀他人之痛 -《埋班作樂》作品. Also boasting a successful career as a film actress, Lo has appeared in numerous films, including Ann Hui's 2017 war movie, Our Time Will Come, among many more.
