Al Cooper
Alto saxophonist, clarinetist and bandleader Al Cooper was best known for being a founding member and the leader of The Savoy Sultans from 1937 to 1946. Cooper played early in his career at the 101 Club on Lenox Avenue in New York and some other clubs in New Jersey and Pleasantville. He was the half brother of Grachan Moncur.
