AB6IX

Known for their sleek pop- and hip-hop-influenced sound, AB6IX (aka Absolute Six and Above BrandNew Six) are a South Korean boy band formed by Brand New Music. The group emerged in 2019 with their number two South Korean-charting full-length 6ixsense. Prior to forming AB6IX, members Dong-hyun Kim, Woo-jin Park, and Dae-hwi Lee had competed on season two of the Mnet boy band reality show Produce 101 in 2017. Both Dae-hwi and Woo-jin were chosen as members of the temporary, fan-created group Wanna One. Also that year, Dong-hyun joined other Produce 101 contestants to form the groups Starship and YDPP. Separately, future AB6IX leader Jeon Woong had been a trainee under the labels JYP, Woollim, and YG Entertainment before switching to Brand New Music. During these years, he appeared on Infinite H's song "As Long as You're Not Crazy," competed on the Mnet show Stray Kids, and toured as a backup dancer for MXM. As a group, AB6IX debuted in May of 2019 following their time appearance on the reality show BrandNewBoys, which documented the time leading up to their official launch. On the heels of the series, they released their debut EP, B: Complete, which featured the single "Breathe." They returned that October with their full-length debut album 6ixsense. The album peaked at number two on the South Korean Albums chart and spawned the single "Blind for Love." AB6IX returned in 2020 with February's digital EP 5NALLY and that June's Vivid EP.
