44phantom

44phantom is the performing moniker of Oklahoma-born artist Brayton Matthews, who traffics in an emotionally turbulent blend of alternative rock, indie pop, and post-grunge. He found mainstream favor in 2019 with the streaming hit "Break Your Heart" and capitalized on that success in 2021 with the Machine Gun Kelly collaboration "Don't Sleep Repeat." His debut long-player, All My Bad Feelings, arrived in 2023. Matthews took to music at an early age and forged a connection with artists like Kurt Cobain, Carrie Underwood, Bob Dylan, Lil Wayne, and Drake. Taking the name 44phantom in a serendipitous nod to the number's mysterious relationship with his family's triumphs and struggles over the years, he turned heads in 2019 after his song "Break Your Heart" went viral, garnering millions of streams across multiple platforms. He followed up on the single's success in 2020 with the Bittersweet EP, which yielded another streaming hit in "Poison." Matthews explored the struggles of his newfound stardom on 2021's Die Sometime, It's Good for U and landed his biggest hit later that year with "Don't Sleep Repeat," a collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly. All My Bad Feelings, heralded by the heartfelt singles "FMU" and "I Feel Like Crying," appeared in 2023.
