Emily Jane White is an expert in dreamy folk. The music of her 5th studio album, They Moved In Shadow All Together, was recorded by the Californian late in 2015 at the Tiny Telephone studio in San Francisco and the New And Improved Studio in Oakland. She recruited all choral additions herself, and completed the arrangements in an echo chamber. The result is a Shamanic sound which is wonderfully enhanced by Hi-Res 24-Bit quality. Marking a return to the fundamentals that defined her sound universe - the vocals boast an ethereal beauty, often dark and hypnotic - They Moved In Shadow All Together derives its name from an opening phrase of the second novel by Cormac McCarthy, Outer Dark, describing the haunting and mysterious descent of strange travelers from the Appalachians. A superb fifth album that confirms the talent of this exceptional artist.
