Marcus Miller continues to display his multi-instrument virtuosity with M², and while the order of the day is still smooth jazz, there's more of a soulful R&B edge than the majority of his previous work. It also features an all-star cast that includes Herbie Hancock, Branford Marsalis, Raphael Saadiq, Paul Jackson, Jr., and Lenny White among others. While it's not his most impressive work ever, fans will find plenty of chops to whet their appetite, and yet again it proves Miller to be one of the most talented smooth jazz artists on the scene.

Female Jazz Singers: 10 New Names to Know

When it comes to jazz singers, Billie, Ella, Sarah, and Nina may be firm favourites, but this vocal style is sprinkled with an array of exceptional singers ready to make their mark on this legendary genre. Can we still call it jazz? Or is it just that jazz as we know it is changing? Either way, it doesn’t make these vocalists any less incredible. So, without further ado, here are ten women who are making an impact on the world of jazz.

Rudy Van Gelder: THE Sound of Jazz

Considered to be the greatest sound engineer in the history of jazz, Rudy Van Gelder was a craftsman who worked alongside the greatest musicians of the post-war period for Blue Note, Impulse!, Prestige, CTI and Savoy.

Miles Davis in 10 albums

Thirty years after his death, Miles Davis is still one of the most important musicians of his time. The trumpeter's impressive discography perfectly sums up his perpetually questioning, probing attitude; and also shows how his influence reaches out beyond the world of jazz. These ten albums, selected subjectively from a sea of revolutionary works, are testament to that fact.
