"Do You Remember the First Time?" was Pulp's first chart hit, climbing all the way to number 33. That was indicative not only of the quality of the single, but their increasingly positive reviews in the British music weeklies. It also didn't hurt that the band produced a half-hour documentary to accompany the clip, featuring a number of celebrities -- including John Peel, Justine Frischmann from Elastica, comedian Bob Mortimer, and two future members of Menswear -- reminiscing about how they lost their virginity. As a song, "Do You Remember the First Time?" uses "the first time" as a launching point, spinning images of decaying, fraying relationships over a melancholy, insistent euro-pop beat. "Street Lites" and "The Babysitter," which featured Jarvis as a peeping Tom and Susan from the "Inside Susan" trilogy, respectively, didn't appear on any album.
