Phronesis
Idioma disponível: inglêsJazz trio Phronesis was formed in 2005 by Danish bassist Jasper Høiby. The piano trio initially featured Swedish drummer Anton Eger and Swedish pianist Magnus Hjorth. The trio released their debut album, Organic Warfare, in 2007. The album received critical acclaim thanks to the band’s reliance on strong melodies. In 2009, Hjorth was replaced by British pianist Ivo Neame and the band released the album Green Delay in 2009. Phronesis recorded their third album, Alive (2010), in concert in London, England with guest drummer Mark Guiliana. Jazzwise Magazine named Alive as Album of the Year and the band received several nominations for the critically successful release. Thanks to the success of all three of their albums, Phronesis embarked on several international tours and played several festivals including the Rochester International Jazz Festival and the Montreal Jazz Festival. Walking Dark, their fourth album, was released in 2012 to extremely positive reviews. It was followed by another successful tour before the release of the MOBO-nominated live album, Life to Everything (2014). After celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2015 with a series of live performances, the trio released the albums Parallax (2016), The Behemoth (2017), and We Are All (2018). At the end of 2020, Phronesis announced that they would be going on indefinite hiatus so that the three band members could concentrate on their own musical projects.
