nano.RIPE
The Japanese indie rock group nano.RIPE was formed in 1998 and initially consisted of singer and guitarist Kimiko, along with guitarist Jun Sasaki. Between 2007 and 2009, the group made a number of independent releases including Aorio Pouch (2007) and Jikū Flask (2009). When they signed to the Lantis record label, they were joined by bassist Nobuyuki Abe and drummer Shinn. Their major debut single "Patricia'' was released in 2010, followed by their first major-label studio album, Hoshi no Yoru no Myaku no Oto no (2011), which hit number 39 on the Oricon chart. Around this time, drummer Shinn departed and was replaced by Yūki Aoyama in 2013. From 2012 to 2014, Nano Ripe released three more studio albums: Plus to Minus no Shikumi (2012), Namida no Ochiru Sokudo (2014), and Nanairo Megane no Himitsu (2015). Several of their songs were featured as theme songs for anime series like Hanasaku Iroha and Sankarea. A compilation album, Shiawase no Kutsu, was released in 2015, followed by their fifth studio album, Space Echo, in 2016. Nobuyuki Abe and Yūki Aoyama left the band later that year. The duo continued to produce music, including their sixth studio album, Pippala no Ki no Shita de (2018). They marked their 10th anniversary with Lantis by releasing a second compilation album, Tsuki ni Sumu Hoshi no Uta: Nano Ripe 10th Anniversary Best, in 2020. Their latest releases include 2022's Fuminshō no Neko to Yoru and 2023's Hikari no Nai Machi, a six-track EP that peaked at number 90 on the Japanese Line Music Top 100.
