Jagwar Twin

Jagwar Twin is a solo project of producer, songwriter, and singer Roy English, who has created music in genres ranging from alternative rock to EDM. His work as Jagwar Twin, as showcased on the 2018 full-length Subject to Flooding, is a subdued yet optimistic mixture of pop and R&B with hip-hop production and gospel-inspired choral backing vocals. More textural, yet hooky pop and soul vibes marked 2022's 33 and the Wonka-inspired 2023 single "Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa)." English, born Brandon Roy Wronski, is a Los Angeles native who first became known for fronting Eye Alaska, an ambitious, cinematic alternative band that released an EP and album on Fearless Records during the late 2000s. After the band broke up, English met producer Jeff Bhasker, who encouraged him to continue making music. After a fruitless record deal fizzled, English signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music in 2014 and contributed to the production of Lana Del Rey's single "I Can Fly." He began releasing solo material in 2015 and was featured on Swedish DJ Alesso's single "Cool," which hit the Top Ten of the U.K. singles chart and was a dance hit across the world. Soon after, English released another hit single, "Tongue Tied July" (with Michael Brun); the EP I'm Not Here, Pt. 1 arrived in 2016, followed by several additional singles. In 2018, English debuted his Jagwar Twin project with "Loser," an ode to the power of individualism. The song appeared on Jagwar Twin's full-length debut, Subject to Flooding, which featured contributions from Bhasker as well as Travis Barker and S1. In 2022, he returned with this sophomore album, the Matthew Pauling-produced 33. Included on the album were the singles "Happy Face," "I Like to Party," and "Down to You." It also featured a guest appearance by little luna on the track "Pay Attention." A single, "Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa)," arrived in December 2023 as a promotional tie-in with the film Wonka.
