The Weeknd is de artiestennaam van de Canadese rapper en muzikant Abel Tesfaye (1990). Hij debuteert in 2013 met het album Kiss Land, waarop hij zachtaardige vocalen mixt met giftige teksten. De plaat haalt de tweede plaats in de Canadese charts. De opvolgers Beauty Behind the Madness (2015) en Starboy (2016) doen het nog beter en halen beide de nummer 1-positie.
