Amrit Maan

A versatile singer-songwriter and film star, Amrit Maan has earned a loyal fan base fusing American-inspired hip-hop production styles with the sound of his native Punjab, India on tracks like 2015’s “Desi Da Drum,” the award-winning 2016 hit “Shikaar,” and his standalones Ali Bamb (2021), Xpensive (2022), and Elite (2024). Born in the Punjabi suburb of Goniana Mandi, Maan was an avid singer and dancer growing up. After pursuing a degree in software engineering, he broke out as a songwriter in 2015, penning “Jatt Fire Karda” for fellow Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh. Later that year, Maan released his first work as a singer, “Desi Da Drum,” in collaboration with Punjabi producer DJ Flow. More singles followed over the years, including the team-ups “Shikaar” (with Jazzy B and Kaur B) and “Bamb Jatt” with Jasmine Sandlas. In 2017, Maan made his first foray into film as a scheming brother in the romantic drama Channa Mereya; his performance earned him a nomination for Best Debut Actor at the inaugural Filmfare Awards Punjabi. Maan's first leading roles in Punjabi cinema were in the 2018 comedy Aate De Chidi and the 2019 drama Do Dooni Panj. After years of soundtrack contributions, Maan released his debut album Ali Bamb in 2021, working with longtime songwriting collaborators Desi Crew and Ikky; the EP Xpensive followed in 2022, continuing Maan's fusion of bhangra and trap beats. Another EP, Elite, was released at the beginning of 2024.
