About Playlist
The Les Muffatti orchestra was born in 1996 out of the desire of a young group of musicians from Brussels to acquire a professional working tool which, in the field of the orchestral baroque interpretation, gives a leading place to the enjoyment of the music while allowing an in-depth exploration of its content and a great meticulous craftsmanship in its execution.
The name of the orchestra refers to Georg Muffat (1653-1704), a cosmopolitan composer and an indispensable source for the history of the orchestra's beginnings.
Les Muffatti's discography to date includes eight recordings, all released on the Ramée label (Outhere Music) and unanimously acclaimed by the critics. Their latest recording, devoted to reconstructions of concertos for organ and strings by Johann Sebastian Bach, with Bart Jacobs as soloist, has received numerous awards, including the Diapason d'Or of the year in France, Het Gouden Label and the Klara prize for disc of the year in Belgium, Luister 10 in the Netherlands and was named CD of the Monats by Toccata in Germany.
Les Muffatti sont nés en 1996 du désir de jeunes musiciens bruxellois de se doter d’un outil de travail professionnel qui, dans le domaine de l’interprétation de la musique orchestrale baroque, concède une place primordiale à la jouissance de la musique tout en autorisant l’exploration en profondeur de son contenu ainsi qu’une grande minutie artisanale dans son exécution.
Le nom de l’orchestre fait référence à Georg Muffat (1653-1704), compositeur cosmopolite et source incontournable pour l’histoire des débuts de l’orchestre.
La discographie des Muffatti comprend à ce jour huit enregistrements, tous sortis sous le label Ramée (Outhere Music) et unanimement salués par la critique. Leur dernier enregistrement, consacré à des reconstructions de concertos pour orgue et cordes de Johann Sebastian Bach, avec Bart Jacobs en soliste, a reçu de nombreuses récompenses, dont le Diapason d’Or de l’année en France, Het Gouden Label et le prix Klara pour le disque de l’année en Belgique, Luister 10 aux Pays-Bas et a été nommé CD des Monats par Toccata en Allemagne.
