About Playlist

Bernard Haitink was undoubtedly one of the greatest conductors of the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Modest and devoid of the slightest arrogance, this immense musician spent most of his career in the Netherlands, where he was born in 1929. He conducted the famous Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam for 27 years, leaving behind an abundant discography of an exceptional level. As his reputation spread beyond the borders of his native country, he was regularly invited all over the world and accepted prestigious posts in Berlin, Chicago and London. His name remains inextricably linked to composers such as Bruckner, Mahler and Shostakovich, whose works he never ceased to perform, creating many definitive versions. All of this would be an affront to his eclecticism to confine him to just three composers, and Qobuz will return at greater length to this great figure of conducting.
