Creeper

Creeper, a versatile English goth punk unit that draws inspiration from a deep well of post-punk, emo, and glam rock, emerged in 2014 and issued their full-length debut, Eternity, in Your Arms, in 2017. Their sound continued to evolve on 2020's Sex, Death & the Infinite Void, which paired the pulpy horror-punk of the Misfits with the rock & roll pageantry of Meat Loaf, an esthetic the band honed even further on 2023's vampire concept album, Sanguivore. Based out of Southampton, England, the aptly named Creeper was founded in 2014 by vocalist Will Gould, guitarists Ian Miles and Oliver Burdett, bassist Sean Scott, drummer Dan Bratton, and keyboardist Hannah Greenwood. They issued their eponymous debut EP shortly after formation, and in 2015, they inked a deal with Roadrunner Records and put out a second EP, The Callous Heart, which was followed by a tour with the Misfits and an appearance at that year's U.K. Warped Tour. A third EP, The Stranger, arrived the following year, and in 2017, Creeper unleashed their full-length debut, the well-received Eternity, in Your Arms. After seemingly announcing their breakup in 2018, the band unexpectedly returned a year later. In 2020, they unleashed their second album, the grandiosely titled Sex, Death & the Infinite Void, which featured the anthemic singles "Born Cold" and "Annabelle." A few months after the album's release, the group parted ways with drummer Dan Bratton, with Jake Fogarty taking over the following year. With the COVID-19 pandemic putting all touring on hold, the group returned to the studio, releasing the EP, American Noir in mid-2021. Guitarist Oliver Burdett parted ways with the band at the same time, and Miss Vincent's Lawrie Pattison stepped in for live dates. Creeper inked a deal with Spinefarm Records ahead of the arrival of their third long-player. Released in 2023, the conceptual Sanguivore followed the trials and tribulations of a pair of Vampires, Spook and Mercy, and a gang called the Ghost Brigade. Musically, the LP followed the sonic blueprints of its predecessor, pairing opulent, pop-infused goth-rock with punk and metal, especially on the singles "Cry To Heaven" and "Teenage Sacrifice."
