Yida Huang
Mandopop singer, songwriter, and musician Yida Huang was born in Singapore on August 11, 1979. At the age of 16, he attended the Lee Wei Song School of Music. After he graduated, he began pursuing music as a career and recorded several theme songs for films (2002’s Treasure Planet and 2003’s Sound of Colors) and TV series (2005’s Devil Beside You). He signed with Sony Music Taiwan and released his debut album, Undefinable, in 2004. His second album, Exclusive Code (2005), included the single "Na Nu Hai Dui Wo Shuo,” which proved to be his breakthrough hit and one of his most popular recordings. After releasing the albums The Grand Finale (2007), Dedicated to Myself (2008), and the compilation YiDA's Journey – Best Collection (2009), he left Sony Music Taiwan. His next two releases – the Glimmer of Light EP (2011) and Heart Disk (2013) – didn’t achieve the same amount of success of his Sony releases. He then faded from the spotlight and battled depression and alcoholism. However, Yida Huang turned things around and returned to the spotlight in 2022 as a contestant on the second season of Chinese reality talent show Call Me by Fire, which featured performances by veteran male performers hoping for a second chance at pop stardom.
