Bert Kaempfert brings soaring trumpets and a full tapestry of orchestral delight to listeners' ears and hearts. Keeping pace with the orchestral sound bred during the late '60s, here is a record chock-full of songwriting masterpieces, molded with the flair and pizzazz of the Kaempfert touch. Some more notable tunes include Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid's "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" and a stirring rendition of George Harrison's "Something." Certainly, the avid fan and listener of the late-'60s contemporary music scene should plan for a romantic and heartfelt joyride. Kaempfert and his orchestra ignite the many varieties of moods in contemporary music, captured here with full esteem on both sides of this lushly produced recording. "Someday We'll Be Together" designates the success and charm of popular singer and group Diana Ross & the Supremes. Regarded by many and critically acclaimed as a smash ballad, "Didn't We" is performed with care and serenity. A blend of traditional folk and commercial pop is presented in the beautiful melody of "She Lets Her Hair Down." Overall, this record is filled with highlights and recommended for those listeners who enjoy and appreciate commercial pop of the 1960s scene. This album should be given more merit and respect for its nostalgic value than for its instrumental or creative quality.
