Mark Olson treats us to regular updates us on his life and work. This time, as if attracted by the powerful rays of the Summer of Love, the ex-Jayhawk is in a hippie mood. Recorded at Joshua Tree with close personal friend, the Norwegian Ingunn Ringvold, this well-named Spokeswoman of the Bright Sun gives off the air of having been written in the late Sixties. Poetry about nature, ethereal melodies and eclectic instrumentation, this is a rather anachronistic album, but far from an unpleasant one: on the contrary. This is a record soaked through with the values of those golden-age Jayhawks work that made them their name.
