Here's where things get a bit confusing in the Aerial M discography. Although this EP is titled October, one of its two songs ("Vivea") served as the title for a previous release (yet, was not included therein). The song in question premiered during the band's 1998 European tour and doesn't stray far from familiar Aerial M territory: understated percussion, gently zooming bass and a repeated guitar melody. The simple prettiness of "Vivea" (un-intrusive synth and piano textures are a nice touch) warrants its eight-minute running time. "Last Caress," originally recorded by Glenn Danzig (!), gets revamped from a hardcore assault into a backporch, acoustic treatment (complete with chirping crickets) that helps mask lines like, "I killed your baby today/I raped your momma today." To say the least, an interesting choice for the first Aerial M recording with vocals.
