Once upon a time there was a new music in what is now Zaire, in which almost anything could happen and probably did, so creative was the ferment. Among the mighty men who bestrode the musical landscape was one Antoine Moundanda, who mixed the sanza finger-piano with guitars and percussion, and lo, there was a sound of great joy, the like of which is rarely to be heard. The quirky genius Zao recently resurrected Moundanda and paired him with sax, flute, guitars and other soukousian elements of great quality, on equal terms.
