Egotronic

Egotronic is an electropunk band from Germany that was founded in 2001. Stylistically, the band combines electronic sounds with rough spoken vocals. In the beginning, Egotronic produced their music themselves. To this end, they infuse their punk music with typical sounds from computer games based on the sound worlds of the cult computer C64 or the Game Boy. Egotronic's first official single, "Luxus/ Nein Nein", was released in 2005. The band's debut album, Die richtige Einstellung, followed a year later. Further albums followed at regular intervals. It was not until 2019 that Egotronic made it into the German charts for the first time with the album Ihr seid doch auch nicht besser at number 86. The follow-up Stresz climbed to number 50 in Germany in 2021. In September 2022, the band announces a longer break. The reason is that singer Thorsten "Torsun" Burkhardt falls ill with cancer. In December 2023, Egotronic returned to the German charts with the compilation Das Unbehagen in der Kultur (selected works 2001 - 2021), which reached number 70.
