Queen of The Meadow is the ambitious project created by Helen Ferguson and her sidekick Julien Pras. The Bordeaux band burst onto the scene with their 2016 début album entitled Aligned With Jupiter. It was a piece of tender folk that the group reproduced and re-released with A Room to Store Happiness. If not a guitar prodigy, Ferguson is most certainly an expert in nuance and sharing complex emotions. This record's main goal is to welcome the listener into its cosy salon. It's an invitation into a world of light, airy folk which is full of positive vibes and a drop of melancholy lyricism which goes down a treat. Withdrawn, which opens the album, is a joyous ballad on acoustic guitar, with Ferguson's angelic voice adding a second layer of tenderness. It’s all about harmony here and it sets the tone for what follows. Drawing a colourful picture, Queen of the Meadow hypnotise listeners with their choral pieces, like on the fascinating Ashes Adèle, and with the simplicity of a few piano chords.
