This is an excellent compilation with 22 essential tracks by Raul Seixas, one of the cult icons of Brazilian rock. Virtually all his most well-known songs are included, which makes this a perfect introduction to the work of a great and truly original rock artist. "O Trem das 7" and "Gîtâ" are two beautiful, grandiose, and almost sacred-sounding rock ballads from his most celebrated album, 1974's Gîtâ (reissued on CD in 1989). Also from that long-player is the pulsating, political, and almost glam rock-styled "Sociedade Alternativa." The brilliant "Metamorfose Ambulante" is one of Seixas' most moving and beautiful songs. "Tente Outra Vez" is similar in tone and approach to David Bowie's "Rock & Roll Suicide," and has a strong message about never giving up on your dreams. The strange but highly exciting "Eu Nasci Há 10 Mil Anos Atrás" is a lofty track with Seixas balancing just on the right side of exaggeration. The humorous "Al Capone" has the '50s rock sound that Seixas loved and never abandoned, and "Mosca Na Sopa" is another example of Seixas' characteristic sly sense of humor. "A Maçã" is a very gentle ballad accompanied by a harp and sung in falsetto, while "É Fim de Mês" is a rather surprising forro tune.
