Released on the 20th anniversary of Mexican pop singer/songwriter Aleks Syntek's recording career, 1989-2009 (2009) is a double-disc career retrospective that covers more or less the same ground as the greatest-hits compilations 89-99 (1999) and 1999-2009 (2009). While those single-disc compilations run 15 tracks each, 1989-2009 runs a bit longer at 33 tracks. It goes all the way back to Hey Tú! (1989), the debut album by Aleks Syntek & la Gente Normal.
