About Playlist
What hasn't been said about this hugely successful British trio from their debut in 1978 through to their last album, released in 1983? Although it's common knowledge that Sting (bass, vocals, main songwriter), Andy Summers (guitars) and Stewart Copeland (drums and percussion) didn't get on particularly well with each other, they managed to create a near-perfect catalogue, with five equally solid albums. The Police arrived in the middle of the punk era, but they stood out for the quality of their songs, which were both energetic and catchy. Their first opus, Outlandos d'Amour, contained the classic Roxanne, as well as bombs Next to You and So Lonely. A year later, Reggatta de Blanc, hit even harder with the classics Message in a Bottle and the slow reggae Walking on the Moon. Jazz touches began to emerge on Bring on the Night. The trio continued to pile up the hit songs until their climax, Synchronicity, which was recorded in 1983 in a climate of extreme tension between the three musicians, who nevertheless produced Every Breath You Take, King of Pain, Wrapped Around Your Finger, and the two songs Synchronicity I and II. Not bad for such a hostile situation!
