Glen Hansard is the singer you’ve probably always known without even knowing it. Before starting his musical career with The Frames in 1992, he appeared a year earlier in Alan Parker’s movie “The Commitments”. The guy with long reddish curly hair, yes that’s him! A few years later, The Frames became national treasures in Ireland with their first local hits “Revelate” and “Fitzcarraldo”, the latter being inspired by the story of Werner Herzog’s film. It would still take another decade though for Glen Hansard to become the respected international singer songwriter we know today. In 2007 he played in the movie “Once” with Marketa Irglova. Their story of love and music conquered the world and the song “Falling Slowly” won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Since then, Glen Hansard's fame has rocketed but he remains unchanged; an authentic artist with a genuine and eternal passion for his art. Photo © Stephan Vanfleteren
