Sarah McCoy
Sarah McCoy (born on May 27, 1985) is an American jazz pianist and singer-songwriter, whose dark, eerie tales of love and loss echo the work of artists like Tom Waits or Nina Simone. A classically-trained musician, McCoy used music as a coping mechanism to deal with the loss of both her father and her grandmother. Before turning twenty, McCoy decided to hitchhike to California to pursue a career in music. After working odd jobs and busking in the streets, she ended up relocating to New Orleans, where she was discovered by chance by French film director Bruno Moynie at a jazz club in 2013. At the encouragement of Moynie, McCoy soon embarked on a tour throughout France, a place she would eventually call home. In April 2017, the singer opened for Jarvis Cocker and Chilly Gonzales, who invited her to do a test recording with top-tier producer Renaud Letang. A couple of months later, McCoy moved to Paris and started working with Gonzales and Letang on the highly-anticipated Blood Siren (2019), an album that seamlessly combined jazz with blues, cabaret, and smoky film noir sensibilities.
