Allegra Levy

Born in New Hartford, Connecticut in 1987, Allegra Levy is a jazz singer and songwriter who received her education at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. She released her critically-acclaimed debut album, Lonely City, in 2014. The album was an autobiographical release that revealed Levy as a songwriter with grace, class and style. Musically, she is rooted in classic traditional jazz but she’s not afraid to reveal a more progressive side. In 2014 and 2015, she was the artist in residence at the Blue Bar in the Hong Kong Four Seasons Hotel. She also performed at most of the top clubs in New York City, including The Jazz Standard, Birdland Theater, The Bitter End, and others. Her second album, Cities Between Us, was released in 2017 and received unanimous critical praise. In 2018, she issued her third album, Looking at the Moon, which was named as Editor’s Pick in JazzTimes and Downbeat Magazine. She wrote the score – and theme song – to the 2019 short film Astronaut Hour. On her fourth album, Lose My Number: Allegra Levy Sings John McNeil (2020), she wrote lyrics to music written by jazz trumpeter John McNeil. Levy self-penned song “Wash My Hands” won the John Lennon Songwriting Competition’s Stuck at Home Edition in 2020.
