2hollis

2hollis is the enigmatic and fantastical persona of Hollis Frazier-Herndon, a wildly imaginative singer and rapper whose self-produced output crosses rage rap with hyperpop. Likened to artists ranging from definite inspiration Playboi Carti to Justin Bieber, Frazier-Herndon's projects include White Tiger (2022), 2 (2023), and boy (2024), all of which have been self-issued. Video game placements and extensive touring across the U.S., Europe, and Asia -- including a stint opening for Ken Carson -- have helped expand the Los Angeles native's audience beyond social media. The son of Biz 3 Publicity CEO and OWSLA co-founder Kathryn Frazier and musician John Herndon (aka A Grape Dope, most notably of Tortoise), Frazier-Herndon was born in Chicago, where he was raised until the age of nine, when he moved to Los Angeles. He started producing music with a digital audio workstation before he entered high school, and recorded his first vocal track as a freshman. In his early teens, Frazier-Herndon uploaded material under the name drippysoup, an alias he used until 2020, when 2hollis debuted that October with the Tree EP. A second EP, META, preceded White Tiger, a longer work that included the driving and anguished "safety," ominous and trap-styled "King of the Darkness," and even a beat-less ballad among its ten tracks. 2, a generally brighter-sounding follow-up, was out the following May. Singles such as the intensely physical "jeans" and aching "crush" set up the June 2024 arrival of boy, which integrated sounds from Minecraft, a formative video game for Frazier-Herndon. By that point, his own music had been licensed for use in EA Sports' F1 23, FC 24, and NHL 24.
