Johannes Sumpich

Johannes Sumpich (June 22, 1986), aka Josh., is an Austrian musician from Vienna. Born in the district of Liesing, he studied vocal pedagogy but eventually dropped out to focus on his music career. He made his debut in 2014 with the single “Wie im Kino,” issued under his real name. In 2016, Josh. teamed up with singer Kathi Kallauch for the song “Kein Sommer für einen allein,” which ended up winning Radio Wien’s Sommerhit contest. After dropping the singles “Wenn du jeden” (2017) and “Sowieso” (2018), Josh. jumped into the spotlight with the ubiquitous summer hit “Cordula Grün,” reaching Number 5 on the Austrian Singles Chart and winning Song of the Year at the Amadeus Awards 2019. His studio debut, Von Mädchen und Farben, came out the day after the ceremony and included both “Cordula Grün” and the gold-selling single “Vielleicht.” Preceded by the singles “Wo bist du” and “Ring in der Hand,” Josh.’s sophomore effort Teilzeitromantik was released in 2021. The album also included the track “Expresso & Tschianti,” an uplifting pop-rock tune that went to Number 66 in Austria.
