With Hiber, her debut release for Dacapo, the 30-year-old Icelandic composer and double bassist Bára Gísladóttir has created an album that is coloured by a distinct dark atmosphere, emphasizing a menacing and distorted bass scenery as presented by herself in an intimate solo setting. In Hiber, a unified and uncompromising soundscape unfolds - one where sounds of different origin join textures and techniques and merge into a single aural organism that falls outside any usual category or label. The title, Hiber, is a reference to hibernation and winter. © DaCapo Records

Daft Punk, Curtain Call

Eight years after Random Access Memories transcended the artistic concept that had begun with Homework eighteen years earlier, Daft Punk have brought things to a halt. It is as if to say that no further reinvention was possible after their last album, which was the culmination of a career that paid tribute to the pop culture of the 1970s and 1980s.

The 10 Records that Made the French Touch

Twenty years ago, the French Touch invaded the clubs and radio stations all over the world, putting France high on the map of electronic music. Qobuz tells you the story of 10 records which have left their mark on this golden era of French producers.

Nils Frahm, an Atypical Piano Master

Hailed by critics of classical music as well as amateurs of the electronic genre, Nils Frahm’s talent has brought harmony between the two worlds for the last ten years. Whether he plays on a church organ or a synthesiser fitted with effect pedals, the German pianist is always looking forward, and that’s what makes him so appealing.
