Now that's what we call making every minute count! This German duo, locked in the studio for much of 2020, now present their year's production: an impressive mixtape of 27 tracks. In 66 minutes, Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary cover just about all of the musical spectrum that has been explored in the last decade. We start with a dancehall beat, which dissolves into polyrhythm via soundsystem sirens (Minibus), then we continue with another dance beat accompanied by the haunting bell loop on Tacken, then dubby interludes, acid-soaked synths (Hyena Dancehall), bubbling bass and glitches all wrapped up in an unstintingly massive production, as evidenced by the final 140 BPM tracks, the ultra-nervy Keller or KlangKrieg with that signature infrabass. Soda, a powerful hit over a background of marimbas, reminds us that the two Germans are also the kings of the hypnotic loop - laurels they won with their side project Moderat. There's simply no time to get bored with these thirty tracks which teem with little deliriums and great ideas, which will be developed in a series of EPs set to follow, of which each one is intended to develop a track from this mixtape. © Smaël Bouaici/Qobuz
