One of the duo's most exciting albums, the '80s represented this group's longing for larger audiences as the merengue rage set in. Nothwithstanding, Ricardo Ray's piano/organ skills are a marvel to listen to and Bobby Cruz's voice seems eerily ageless. The rabid "Luis y Lola" is a demonstration of high-voltage agility packed with pure pow. Their continuing religious fervor is further expressed in the dynamic "Yo Soy la 'Zarza'" (timbales solo by Louie Ramírez). "El Campesino" is their salute to Puerto Rican countrymen, as well as a particular message of caution and warning (¡Hey, tu, cuidao!). This dynamic duo is at their electric best in this superior recording, whose infectious energy has remained undiminished and never lacking musical excitement.
