Anian is the Welsh-language sextet's third album since their formation in 2005. Produced by Patrick Phillips (Goldfrapp, Kate Bush), the record is built around lead singer Lisa Jên's ethereal vocals, matched with the group's contemporary and alternative folk leanings. The CD version includes a second disc, Yn Dy Lais ("In Your Voice"), featuring guest stars like Peter Gabriel and Maxine Peake, who interpret the songs for non-Welsh-speaking listeners. Hailing from Bethesda in North Wales, the group enlisted fellow countryman and actor Rhys Ifans to make an appearance on the title track.
