The Selmanaires
Founded by twin brothers Herb and Jason Harris and named after the street on which the band’s rehearsal space was located, the Selmanaires developed a quirky, angular brand of indie rock often reminiscent of the Talking Heads. Matching danceable grooves, prominent bass lines, and noisy, rhythmic guitar bursts with touches of airy psychedelia, the group garnered a significant live following in the South. Along with contemporaries like Deerhunter and the Black Lips, the band helped establish Atlanta as a late-aughts hot spot for left-of-center rock.
