Nesbeth

Reggae singer Greg Nesbeth was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1973. He moved around a lot as a child, and in his late teens began working in earnest on original music, using his last name as a stage name. The singer worked steadily for years, performing live, working with other reggae artists, and releasing singles of his own. Nesbeth's songs shifted from more romantic topics in the late '90s and early 2000s to a string of more socially conscious songs in the late 2000's "Guns Out," "Board House," and "Injustice." His fame grew as he continued working hard, with his 2015 song "My Dream" becoming one of his biggest hits to date. The song was so inspirational in Jamaica that when Andrew Holness was elected Jamaica's Prime Minister in 2016, he quoted its lyrics in his inauguration speech and later joined Nesbeth on-stage to sing the song with him. These happy times were offset by tragedy, however, when just a little later into 2016, Nesbeth lost both his wife and sister within months of each other. He soldiered on after his losses, recording new singles "Road to Glory" in 2016 and "New Gangster" and "Success Story" in 2017.
