Nascimento

The Brazilian singer-songwriter Milton Nascimento is known as extremely versatile, during his long and distinguished career collaborating with artists across a wide range of musical genres including Duran Duran, Earth, Wind and Fire, Quincy Jones and Paul Simon. As a measure of his standing in the international music community his 1994 album 'Angelus' features guest appearances by Peter Gabriel, Cat Stevens, George Duke, Jon Anderson and numerous other A-list musical talents.

Nascimento was brought up in Três Pontas and during the early part of his career forged a reputation as a talented artist playing in samba groups. He became a well known musician in Brazil and was a key member of the renowned musical collective Clube de Esquina. His international breakthrough came after he appeared on Wayne Shorter's critically acclaimed 1974 album 'Native Dancer' and after this Nascimento rose to prominence as one of Brazil's premier artists. With a recording career spanning more than five decades Nascimento has appeared on more than 40 albums plus numerous guest appearances with other artists. His best known songs as a solo artist include 'Maria, Maria', 'Travessia', 'Canção da América' and 'Coração de Estudante'.
