Lee Seung Hwan
Proclaimed as the “King of Live Performances” in his native South Korea, Lee Seung Hwan (December 13, 1965) is a singer-songwriter and producer from Busan. Apart from his incredibly successful music career, he is also the president and founder of the entertainment agency Dream Factory. Lee Seung Hwan first rose to fame as a balladeer, making his official debut with the album B.C 603 in 1989. His sophomore effort Always won the New Artist’s Gold Disc upon its release in 1991. In the following years, he cemented his status as a bonafide hitmaker with the full-lengths My Story (1993), Human (1995), and Cycle (1997). By the time The War in Life came out in 1999, Lee Seung Hwan had already started incorporating elements from rock music into his romantic ballads. That year, he won Best Male Artist, Music Video of the Year, and Best Ballad Performance for the single “Last Request.” The album reached Number 2 on the Gaon charts and was followed by Egg: Sunny Side Up (2001), Karma (2004), and Hwantastic (2006), all of which reached the Top 5 in South Korea. In 2010, he scored his first Number 1 record with his tenth LP Dreamizer. After a brief absence from the music scene, Lee Seung Hwan returned in 2014 with the full-length Fall to Fly, peaking at Number 2 on the Gaon Albums Chart. A sequel titled Fall to Fly Pt. 2 appeared in 2019.
