IV Jay
Pop-oriented R&B singer and songwriter IV Jay promotes positivity and self-confidence. Signed to major-label Atlantic as a teenager, she has issued the EPs IV (2018) and 5th Element (2020), plus a handful of singles.
A native of Paterson, New Jersey, IV Jay (Jay is short for Jaylynn, her first name) began playing keyboards at age 13, took up singing, and started uploading covers of contemporary hits to her Instagram account. Having built an online following with versions of Chris Brown's "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)" and Childish Gambino's "Redbone," among other songs, she signed to Atlantic in 2018. She made her commercial debut that year, at the age of 16, with "Thirsty." "Pretty Wings" followed shortly thereafter and led to the October release of IV, a four-track EP consisting of "Thirsty" and three new original songs. After a couple singles in 2019, Jay put together a nine-track EP, 5th Element, and issued it in September 2020.
