Bruses
Bruses is the alias of Amalia Ramirez, an indie pop Mexican singer and songwriter born in Tijuana in 1998. In her early teens, she started writing songs as a way to cope with mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. When she turned 18, she moved to Mexico City to study music at the Centro Universitario Fermatta. Around 2019 Bruses began uploading her first songs and videos to TikTok and other social media platforms, eventually gathering a considerable following with her mixture of lo-fi, electronica, and rock, and her introspective lyrics -- with Billie Eilish as an obvious point of reference. In 2021 she had her first hit with the single "Dueles Tan Bien," later included on her debut full-length, Monstruos (2022), which earned Bruses a Latin Grammy nomination. Recognition brought along a string of collaborations with many other artists, including pop stars such as Mon Laferte, Paty Cantú, and Kenia Os. The EP Cuando Ella Me Besó appeared in 2023.
