Amber's

The Ambers were an unsuccessful California act whose members included Ralph Mathis, the brother of Johnny Mathis. (Ralph looks similar to his older brother and is often mistaken for him, as he was, by fans in 1979 when Johnny was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.) Of John and Mildred Mathis' seven children, only Johnny and Ralph showed any musical inclinations. The Ambers' first record, "Never Let You Go" b/w "I'll Make a Try," surfaced on Ebb Records in 1958; their second and final 45 "All of My Darling" b/w "So Glad," came out two years later on Todd Records. Neither single attained any degree of success, and soon the Ambers, whose other members remain a mystery, disbanded.
