For the statistics, 10 Jaar Levensecht, Guus Meeuwis' first collection of hits, came one year too early: Meeuwis and Vagant's breakthrough was in the summer of 1995, with the smash hit single "Het Is Een Nacht." In 2004, however, Meeuwis was once again in the spotlight, with the success of cover single "Geef Mij Nu Je Angst," re-released in the wake of the death and funeral of singer André Hazes. All the usual suspects of Meeuwis' singles catalog (both with Vagant and as a solo artist) are here, from second single "Per Spoor" to fan favorite "Brabant," fleshed out with two of Meeuwis' own favorites (a live duet rendition of "Bondgenoot" and a new studio recording of "Toen Ik Je Zag") and two new songs, "Ze Komt Naar Huis" and "Mooier Dan Ik Dacht." Meeuwis' translation of Ralph McTell's 1972 song "Streets of London" and "Op Straat" are also here.
